Saddle adapter for balance and stability

New to Ireland, this device opens up horse-riding for mobility- or balance-impaired riders.

Developed in France during a research project to improve movement of a disabled rider's centre of gravity to better follow that of the horse, the Hippolib provides substantial support to people with impaired mobility or balance.

Easy to install to a standard saddle, the Hippolib supports the rider's back and pelvis for a natural riding posture, but with a quick release in the event of an emergency.

This opens horse-riding as an option for people living with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, offering a new outlet for being active and also benefiting from the empathic connection uniquely offered by horses.

As the rider is better supported, the special training for the horse to accept disabled riders is not needed. This is of particular benefit to riding schools, allowing for more choices in pairing horses with their mounts.

We invite clubs, riding schools and activity providers who cater for children and / or adults with disabilities to connect with Able Active. Contact us for more information on getting listed and on using the app to manage registration, participation and feedback.
